Lawyer Overview

Carson Wen has more than 30 years of experience in business, corporate, and securities law. His diverse portfolio of transactions includes many firsts: a reverse takeover listing of the first PRC-controlled listed company in Hong Kong, the first listing of a company on the Foreign Board of the Singapore Stock Exchange (which later obtained a dual listing on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange), and one of the earliest acquisitions by PRC financial institutions of a significant stake in a Hong Kong licensed bank. He also has advised international clients on mergers and acquisitions of listed and private companies in multiple industries. Carson represents international and Hong Kong companies in their direct investments in China, including joint ventures, wholly owned enterprises, and acquiring interests in existing PRC companies. He also provides advice on regulatory and strategic issues.

Carson has advised PRC authorities and Chinese state-owned enterprises in many transactions with overseas companies. He also has acted for overseas investors and lenders in large-scale real estate developments in China. Carson has been named as a leading adviser on Chinese law and capital markets work in Who's Who of the Law, Asia Pacific Legal 500, Asialaw Profiles, and China Top 200.

In 2007, Carson was awarded the Bronze Bauhinia Star (BBS) in the Honours List of the Hong Kong SAR Government. He is also a deputy of the HKSAR to the National People's Congress of China, which is the PRC's national legislature and constitutionally the highest organ of state power. In addition, he is a justice of the peace of Hong Kong and holds various public service appointments in mainland China and Hong Kong and is a guest professor of the law school of Sun Yat-Sen University in Guangzhou, China.
