Since 1999, Mark has been practicing in the field of commercial and general litigation and arbitration, focusing on corporate and financial disputes and variants of common law claims (including tortious, contractual, and restitutionary). During this time he has represented and advised multinational corporations, local corporations, and other established companies. He has also acted for local and foreign high net worth individuals. Prior to joining Jones Day, Mark was a senior associate with Rajah & Tann, a premier law firm in Singapore.

Mark's experience includes acting for:

• several major international software companies in a defamation suit brought by a Singapore-listed CD manufacturing company

• a French merchant bank to enforce a Malaysian ringgit foreign exchange transaction against an American investment bank after the imposition of capital controls in Malaysia

• the majority shareholder of an Enterprise 50 construction company with assets in several jurisdictions in a minority oppression action

• the managing director of the same Enterprise 50 construction company in an action for fraud brought by his former partners regarding the valuation of the company’s assets pursuant to the settlement of the minority oppression action

• a major Singapore contractor in an arbitration involving a dispute with its Japanese joint venture partner over the design and construction of overhead bridge cranes for an automated container port facility

• a Singapore confederation of industries in successfully defending an arbitration claim brought by an exhibition organising company regarding an endorsement agreement

• the director of a Singapore-listed electronics company in successfully defending a claim brought by his former Indonesian business partner in a failed joint venture

• a Singapore-listed industrial conglomerate in successfully defending a claim brought by the vendors of a cement company for monies allegedly owed with the sale of that company

• a prominent Indonesian businessman, head of a large Indonesian conglomerate and his wife, in a conspiracy action brought against them and others by a Canadian insurance company

• a prominent Singapore corporate lawyer in her claim against the partners of her former firm, a leading Singapore practice, for monies owed to her as an outgoing partner

• the CEO of a Singapore-listed jewelry company against a financial Web site for alleged defamatory remarks made against him

• a broker against the pastor of his church for alleged defamatory remarks made against him over the pulpit and

• a shipping company in defending a claim brought by their former managing director for monies allegedly owed under his employment agreement.
