Lawyer Overview

Laurent De Muyter concentrates his practice on the intersection of EC competition law and government regulations in liberalized industries, particularly telecommunications. He also advises clients in other regulated industries such as media, energy, and postal service.

Laurent advises fixed, mobile, and wireless local loop operators as well as telecom equipment manufacturers on various legal issues, including numbering, spectrum licensing, interconnection, access, cooperation agreements, distribution, technology licensing, abuse of dominant positions, and merger filings. He also represents telecommunication operators before European and national courts, regulators, and national competition authorities in interconnection disputes, market regulation procedures, and competition law cases. In 2008, he was seconded to the London office of the GSM Association.

Laurent is a member of the Brussels Bar and a research fellow at the Institute of European Legal Studies of the University of Liège, where he gives an annual seminar on electronic communications law for the master's in EU competition and IP law. In addition, he regularly takes part in conferences on competition and telecommunication law issues.
