Lawyer Overview

Rebecca Jackson Doty is a trial lawyer who specializes in product liability, toxic tort and environmental defense. She also maintains an active interest in admiralty law with a focus on the Jones Act and maritime personal injury. Ms. Doty has been a litigation associate with Baker Hostetler's Houston office since 2003.

Ms. Doty has extensive experience in the field of product liability. She is the lead associate overseeing a national product liability litigation docket for a major manufacturer of herbicides and pesticides and has experience coordinating the defense of agricultural and pesticide cases throughout the United States. Ms. Doty also engages in the practice of environmental law, and has recently defended a large industrial company accused of groundwater contamination.

Ms. Doty is active in the legal community and has focused on helping law students develop litigation skills. A two-time national admiralty moot court champion herself, she coached the University of Houston Moot Court Team to victory in the 2006 John R. Brown Admiralty Moot Court. Ms. Doty has also taught an admiralty class to law students at the University of Houston.

Ms. Doty is a member of the Houston Bar Association, the Texas Young Lawyers Association and the Houston Young Lawyers Association. Ms. Doty organizes and plays on Baker Hostetler's flag football and softball teams through the Houston Young Lawyer's League. She is also an enthusiastic member of Baker Hostetler's MS150 bike team, completing three annual 150-mile bike rides from Houston to Austin to raise money for MS research and education.

Ms. Doty is involved with the Pink Ribbons Project, a local breast cancer awareness and treatment organization, serving on its Young Professionals' Guild and providing legal support for the organization.
