Summary

Law Firm Overview

Our Strategy for the Client
A good lawyer and good facts make good cases. No matter how large the firm, it is usually the talent and effort of an individual attorney and the facts he uncovers that will make your case.

In our employment and other civil litigation cases, we pursue vigorous discovery against your defendant to uncover all the facts in your case. We then apply thorough-going research to your best facts to yield case law that gives those facts their sharpest legal edge. With these assets we are positioned to carry the day on your behalf whether it be at settlement, before an administrative judge or a "board," or in front of a judge or jury.

In our appellate practice - civil and criminal - we test each legally significant fact in the transcript of your case before the board or at trial for its compatibility with case law that can undermine the board's or the judge's ruling on one or more crucial issues. We then write a brief which pushes your case law with your facts, and your facts with your case law to advance those arguments that will convince or allow the appellate court to reverse the earlier decision and order a result in your favor.

Experience
George Elfter focuses his practice in employment law, civil litigation, and appellate cases, both civil and criminal. He is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, and practices in the D.C. local courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit, and before D.C. administrative agencies. He occasionally practices in Virginia and Maryland. He routinely handles cases before the EEOC, the FSGB and the MSPB, and federal administrative agencies such as the State Department. He has done appellate work in the Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit (Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana).
