Lawyer Overview

I joined the firm of Smith & Strege in September of 2003. My practice consists of mostly criminal defense, both as the public defender for the City of Wahpeton and in a privately retained capacity. In addition, I handle family law cases, creditor/debtor matters, contract disputes, and practice in many other areas of the law. I am eager to serve the people of the area in whatever legal capacity I can. My approach to working with clients is believing that at the moment, their case is the most important event in their lives and I want to help them in any way I can.

I grew up in North Dakota, moved to Arizona where I taught high school social studies for five years, and then came back to North Dakota for good. I have always considered the Midwest my home. I enjoy the area, especially the people and the way of life. I spend my free time with my wife and son, either at home or at the lake. I also enjoy participating in as many sports as possible. The Wahpeton-Breckenridge area is ideal for me, and I'm proud to call it my home.
