Lawyer Overview

Renee Gu has more than 20 years of experience in PRC dispute resolution. In addition to serving as a judge at Shanghai Higher People's Court for seven years, she has represented clients ranging from multinational and Chinese companies to financial institutions and government agencies involved in litigation and arbitration in the PRC, the Hong Kong SAR, the United States, England, Singapore, and Sweden.

She has handled some of the largest disputes in the PRC involving shareholder and joint venture disputes, intellectual property, commercial fraud, bankruptcy, unfair competition, employment, product liability, banking and finance transactions, and real estate.

Renee also has substantial experience handling enforcement of trademarks, copyright, and patent rights in the PRC.

In addition, she regularly advises on mergers and acquisitions, corporate restructuring, regulatory compliance, and risk management in the PRC.

Renee speaks regularly at seminars and conferences in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, and Tokyo on topics such as PRC litigation and arbitration; enforcement of international arbitral awards in the PRC; PRC bankruptcy, labor, and product liability law; and risk management in the PRC. She also has published articles on PRC arbitration and litigation and patent licensing agreements in publications such as the International Comparative Legal Guide to International Arbitration and Science, Technology and Law (in Chinese).
