Jarleth Burke represents businesses in the telecommunications, energy, broadcasting, aviation, and financial services sectors on competition issues before the EU, U.K., and Irish competition agencies. He also advises extensively in relation to telecommunications regulation.

Jarleth frequently advises on multijurisdictional merger filings before the European Commission, the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) in the United Kingdom, and the Competition Authority in Ireland. In 2008, he represented Goodrich Corporation in its aircraft engine control system joint venture with Rolls Royce and ISP in its sale of its alginate business to FMC, both of which were approved by the OFT. In recent years Jarleth has also acted for WL Ross & Co. in respect of merger filings before the European Commission relating to automotive interiors.

From 1994 to 2000, Jarleth was general counsel with ESAT Telecom, a Nasdaq-listed telecommunications operator, where he was responsible for several cases before the European Commission. Subsequently, he worked as head of legal affairs at the Commission for Aviation Regulation in Ireland. There he advised on legal aspects of economic regulation, including the adoption of a system of price caps for airport landing charges.

Jarleth is qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and as a barrister in Ireland.

He has spoken at many international conferences on competition law and telecommunications regulation. He is also the Irish correspondent for the Computer & Telecommunications Law Review. Jarleth also is involved in charitable and political work in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
