Lawyer Overview

Amman Khan is a partner in the Firm's Litigation Department.  His practice is focused primarily on trials, arbitration and judgment enforcement in high-stakes entertainment, commercial and trust matters.

Mr. Khan's recent victories include:

  • Successfully defending a major motion picture studio against another studio's efforts to prevent them from developing and promoting a prime time entertainment program.
  • Winning an international arbitration award for a film distributor against a film producer.  The arbitrator also awarded Mr. Khan's client 100% of its attorney's fees and costs.
  • Skillfully preventing a former employee from disclosing sensitive and confidential information from a major league sports franchise and its owners, solely through negotiation and without litigation.
  • Effectively unwinding a film library's complex reverse merger after securing court orders that nullified key asset transfers on fraudulent conveyance grounds.
  • Winning an $8.8 million judgment on behalf of a corporate fiduciary against the former trustee of a private trust.  Mr. Khan also succeeded in collecting the judgment in its entirety, plus costs and attorney's fees.

    Mr. Khan's expertise lies in the following areas:

    In 2006 and 2007, Mr. Khan was selected as a "Rising Star" in the Los Angeles Magazine SuperLawyers feature.  He is also listed in the National Registry of Who's Who.

    Prior to becoming a practicing lawyer, Mr. Khan was an Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Ottawa, Common Law Section, where he taught Torts and Constitutional Law.  He was also an instructor in the National and International Moot Court Programs.

    Mr. Khan graduated with an LL.M. from the UCLA School of Law in 1994.  He was awarded an LL.B., cum laude, from the University of Ottawa, Common Law Section in 1993.  He also graduated With Distinction with a B.A. in Economics from McGill University in 1990.

    An avid traveler, Mr. Khan is fluent in four languages, including French and Hindi.  He is married and the father of two energetic boys.
