Saul Breskal was born in Cape Town, South Africa in 1971. He received his Bachelor of Business Science with honors from the University of Cape Town (South Africa) in 1993 and received his law degree from the University of Oxford (United Kingdom) in 1996. After completing his studies at Oxford, Mr. Breskal returned to his native South Africa, where he joined the distinguished firm of Sonnenberg Hoffmann & Galombik.

Mr. Breskal immigrated with his wife to Los Angeles, California, in June, 1999, and joined the Firm as an associate in May, 2000. In 2005, Mr. Breskal became a partner of the Firm.

Since joining the Firm, Mr. Breskal's practice has concentrated on real estate transactions, primarily the purchase, sale, financing, and development of commercial, industrial and residential real properties. Most recently, Mr. Breskal has been one of the lead attorneys representing MGM Mirage in the construction and development of one of the largest mixed use developments anywhere in the United States. Some of Mr. Breskal's other representative transactions include:

  • represented a real estate investment trust in the purchase and sale of several large office buildings throughout Southern California;
  • represented the owners of a privately owned film studio in selling the studio to a real estate investment trust and in reinvesting the proceeds from the sale in commercial properties through Section 1031 tax deferred exchanges;
  • represented a Los Angeles based development company in the sale of shopping centers in Southern California;
  • successfully concluded the largest charitable land donation under the California Natural Heritage Preservation Tax Credit Act of 2000;
  • assisted with real estate due diligence as part of the team of attorneys that represented MGM Grand in its mergers with the Mirage Group in 2000 and with the Mandalay Resort Group in 2005;
  • represented the CEO of one of the world's largest media conglomerates with respect to various real estate related transactions;
  • represented a consortium of car dealers in purchasing vacant land from a bankrupt estate and assisting in the negotiation and preparation of development agreements with the City of Temecula for the development of an automall on the vacant land.
