Summary

Law Firm Overview

Dan Munster received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Vanderbilt University in 1990.  He went on to study law at the University of Detroit where he was published on Law Review and clerked for the Michigan Supreme Court.  After receiving his law degree, Dan moved to Atlanta and joined the Senior Citizens Law Project, a division of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society.  In February 1999, Dan founded Daniel D. Munster, P.C. as an elder law practice focusing on Medicaid planning, advance directives (simple wills, Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care, Durable Financial Power of Attorney, and Living Wills), estate planning, and disability planning (special needs trusts).

In February 2010, Dan Munster was selected as a Georgia Super Lawyer in the category of Elder Law for the fourth consecutive year.  Just three attorneys in the state of Georgia received this distinction.  The Super Lawyer moniker is given to no more than 5% of all practicing attorneys in each state and suggests a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement in the attorney's area of practice. Selection as a Super Lawyer follows a lengthy nomination process followed by a review of the attorney's professional credentials by both Super Lawyer peers and a panel of experts.  Finally, Dan maintains a Martindale Hubbell peer review rating of AV PREEMINENT 5.0 (out of maximum 5.0) :

The AV PREEMINENT 5.0 Peer Review Rating shows that a lawyer has reached the height of professional excellence. He or she has usually practiced law for many years, and is recognized for the highest levels of skill and integrity.

Dan regularly teaches elder law to other attorneys.  In addition, he regularly participates in community education programs for family members and caregivers.  He has conducted Elder Law classes for the Evening at Emory program, appeared as a guest attorney on The Layman's Lawyer television show, and been featured on WGST radio.  He contributed to the book A Will Is Not Enough In Georgia and has also been published in various periodicals, including the Georgia Bar Journal, Elder Law Today, Atlanta Hospital News and Lifestyle Transitions Magazine.  Dan is a member of the State Bar of Georgia, the Atlanta Bar Association, the Atlanta Estate Planning Council, the Georgia Lifelong Planning Advisory Council, and the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (currently serves as a board member of its Georgia chapter).  Dan has served as chair of the State Bar of Georgia YLD Elder Law Committee, served on the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Georgia Elder Law Section, and served on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Bar Association Elder Law Section.
