Lawyer Overview
Jeff Schlegel has extensive experience in international and domestic project development, M&A, securities, and finance transactions for energy industry participants, particularly in hydrocarbons and petrochemicals infrastructure. His project development experience encompasses transactional, structuring, engineering, procurement, construction, operations, and other commercial arrangements. Jeff also has represented domestic and multinational companies in a variety of public and private transactions, including inbound and outbound investment, and cross-border transactions in a wide variety of industries in Europe, Latin America, Asia, Africa, and North America. Jeff is co-head of the Firm's global Energy Practice.
Jeff's recent engagements include the development of a world scale sulphur handling facility and related infrastructure in the Middle East, $3 billion of midstream and upstream acquisitions, refinery acquisitions in the Asia/Pacific region, LNG regas facility development in the United States, and midstream services acquisitions in Africa and Europe.
Jeff is a member of the Association of International Petroleum Negotiators, a past chair of the International Section of the Institute for Energy Law, a regular speaker at energy conferences, and a past editor of the Texas Transnational Law Quarterly, published by the State Bar of Texas.
