John Kim focuses his practice on intellectual property litigation, counseling, licensing, and prosecution, including patents, trademarks, and copyrights, as well as unfair competition and false advertising.

John's prosecution and litigation experiences involve a wide range of technologies including mechanical devices, medical devices, and biotechnology. Specifically, John has worked with the following technologies and fields: stationary exercise bicycles, flashlights, storage devices, cervical collars, bird deterrent devices, automobile accessories, cardiac valves, prosthetic implants, catheters, security inspection systems, stereolithograhy, treatments for urinary incontinence, modified cytomegalovirus promoters, recombinant Factor VIII, and soy bean fermentation processing.

John has been involved in all phases of litigation, including discovery practice, motion practice, pretrial preparation, and settlement negotiations.

On the prosecution side, John has been involved with the procurement of utility and design patents, trademarks, and copyrights including the management of a worldwide trademark portfolio.

On the counseling side, John has reviewed and analyzed medical device patents and provided opinions on validity and infringement with respect to catheters and other technologies. John has also advised clients on license agreements and matters relating to the protection of patent and trademark rights.
