Lawyer Overview
Kamilah's experience extends to advising sponsors, governments, and contractors alike on construction and engineering matters, with a particular focus on Malaysian upstream work. Her areas of practice include contract administration, claims development and construction litigation, and arbitration. Kamilah also specialises in the preparation of custom-made turnkey contracts.
Her career highlights include a period of service as principal legal adviser to Kuala Lumpur International Airport Berhad during its development of a state-of-the-art international airport facility at Sepang, the largest of its kind in Southeast Asia. She played a crucial role in overseeing the operations of the Claims and Contract Administration Secretariat, where she monitored the performance of individual contractors. At the same time, she managed all aspects of claims against KLIAB brought by international general and specialist contractors, resolving an overwhelming majority of such claims in KLIAB's favor in the process.
Kamilah was also a key adviser to the government of Malaysia on its recent establishment of the Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority. She is widely regarded as an authority on civil aviation regulations in Malaysia and has featured prominently in developing civil aviation legislation in Malaysia.
