Sigvard Jarvin - Paris

Sigvard Jarvin has been involved in more than 225 international arbitrations under the arbitration rules of the ICC, the Stockholm Arbitration Institute, the Dutch Arbitration Institute, the American Arbitration Association, LCIA, UNCITRAL, the Cairo Regional Centre, and other arbitration organizations. He acts as both arbitrator and counsel, and his arbitration experience involves various fields of industry and commerce, including large and complex disputes relating to oil and geothermal energy, long-term gas supply contracts, the supply of industrial plants, reinsurance claims, international construction claims, licensing of know-how in telecommunications, and sale of armaments.

Sigvard chaired the ICC working party revising the ICC/CMI Maritime Arbitration Rules (1997-1998) and was also general counsel to the ICC International Court of Arbitration and member of the ICC Court. In addition, he was Of Counsel at Jones Day from 2001 to 2009 and is now an independent consultant to the Firm.

Sigvard is author of more than 80 articles, case notes, and chapters on international arbitration that have appeared in such publications as Arbitration International, Journal du Droit International (Le Clunet), Journal of International Arbitration, Revue de l'Arbitrage, and Recht der Internationalen Wirtschaft. He also was general editor of the Stockholm International Arbitration Review, published with the support of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce.

Sigvard was the rapporteur at the 1990 and 1998 ICCA Congresses and was chairman of the foreign section of the Swedish Bar from 1999 to 2000 and a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and the International Arbitration Club, London.
