Sigvard Jarvin was Of Counsel at Jones Day from 2001 to 2009 and now is an independent consultant to the Firm. He has been involved in more than 215 international arbitrations under the arbitration rules of the ICC, the Stockholm Arbitration Institute, the Dutch Arbitration Institute, the American Arbitration Association, LCIA, UNCITRAL, the Cairo Regional Centre, and other arbitration organizations.

Sigvard acts both as arbitrator and counsel, and his arbitration experience involves various fields of industry and commerce, including large and complex disputes relating to oil and geothermal energy, long-term gas supply contracts, the supply of industrial plants, reinsurance claims, international construction claims, licensing of know-how in telecommunications, and sale of armaments. He also chaired the ICC working party revising the ICC/CMI Maritime Arbitration Rules (1997-1998).

Sigvard is the author of Guide to Arbitration and Related Services Offered by the ICC and coauthor of Commercial Arbitration Law in Asia and the Pacific, the Collection of ICC Arbitral Awards, and the chapter on "ICC Rules of Arbitration" for the first edition of the Practitioner's Handbook on International Arbitration (2002). He is the general editor of the Stockholm International Arbitration Review, which is published with the support of the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. In addition, he has published articles and case notes in several periodicals, including Arbitration International, Journal du Droit International (Le Clunet), Journal of International Arbitration, Revue de l'Arbitrage, and Recht der Internationalen Wirtschaft.

Sigvard was the rapporteur at the 1990 and 1998 ICCA Congresses and was chairman of the foreign section of the Swedish Bar from 1999 to 2000, and he is also a member of the board of the Institute of Arbitration Law at Stockholm University and a member of the ICC Commission on Arbitration and the International Arbitration Club, London. He is cited yearly as one of the best arbitration lawyers in France in Chambers Global.
