Lawyer Overview

Evelyne Friedel has been practicing antitrust and trade law for more than 10 years. She has a great deal of experience assisting clients with analyzing their commercial practices in light of antitrust issues. She also has experience drafting commercial contracts (distribution and agency agreements) and in ensuring their compliance with French and EC antitrust rules. Evelyne represents clients before the French courts and antitrust authorities, such as the Competition Council (Conseil de la concurrence & Direction générale de la concurrence, de la consommation et de la répression des fraudes). She handles notifications of mergers and acquisitions before the EC Commission and the French Ministry of Economy. In addition, she advises clients on national trade rules governing commercial transparency, invoicing, and commercial loyalty.

Evelyne has particular interest in international antitrust issues and published her doctoral thesis on the extraterritoriality of antitrust laws in the United States and in the European Community. She has published several articles on antitrust law and is coauthor, with Eric Morgan de Rivery, of the chapter on French antitrust law in the Matthew Bender collection Antitrust Laws and Trade Regulation.

In addition, Evelyne has a very active pro bono practice. As a defender of the fundamental rights of people with disabilities (rights for health, education, and work), she represents Autism-Europe before the Council of Europe and the European Union's institutions and advocates the cause of autistic people in France before the French government and parliament. In this regard, Evelyne lodged the first collective action for the defense of the rights of disabled people in Europe and obtained a successful decision rendered by the Council of Europe. Evelyne is also an active executive member of several organizations (president-elect of Autism-Europe, president of Autism-France (2004-2006), and vice president of the leading employers' confederation in the social sector devoted to the employment of disabled people).
