Lawyer Overview

Walt has a broad range of experience in complex commercial litigation matters in state and federal courts, with an emphasis on securities and corporate governance litigation, including securities fraud class actions, SEC and audit committee investigations, shareholder derivative claims, proxy fraud litigation, and other matters ancillary to securities litigation. In addition, Walt has experience with commercial fraud and contract matters, local government law, and consumer protection claims. Among other representations, Walt has worked closely with Dell, Georgia Gulf Corporation, Cumulus Media, Flowers Foods, OrthAlliance, Eastman Chemical Company, BBAC, LLC, and Experian Information Solutions.

Walt is a member of the Securities Litigation Subcommittee of the Atlanta Bar Association, the Defense Research Institute (Commercial Litigation Committee and Securities Litigation Subcommittee), and the State Bar of Georgia. He is admitted to practice before the state and appellate courts of Georgia, the Northern District of Georgia, and the Eleventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Walt also has devoted a significant amount of time to pro bono activities in the Atlanta community, serving on the board of directors of Kate's Club, Inc. — a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving the needs of children who have suffered the loss of a parent or sibling, among other civic and charitable activities. Walt is currently counseling The Bodhi Tree Foundation, a nonprofit foundation devoted to providing financial support to children's charities around the globe. Walt is a graduating member of the L.E.A.D. Atlanta, Class of 2007.
