Serge Clerckx practices EU antitrust (competition) law and advises on government regulation, particularly in the telecommunications sector.

His antitrust practice includes advice and representation in mergers, joint ventures, anticompetitive agreements, collusive practices, and abuse of dominant positions. Examples of recent merger cases in which he has been involved include Procter & Gamble/Gillette and various acquisitions by British Telecom (Infonet and Albacom). His recent antitrust work includes litigation (€500m damage claim for abuse of dominant position) and day-to-day counseling for various global trade associations on antitrust compliance.

Serge's government regulation work involves representation of clients in telecommunications and other regulated industries at the international, EU, and national level. Most recently he was involved in the representation of the GSM Association in the EU Commission's initiative to regulate international roaming prices.

Prior to joining Jones Day, Serge practiced at the law firm of Hunton & Williams, where his practice focused on corporate and competition law.
