Mireille Buydens is ranked as one of the top litigators in Belgium in international surveys and has a strong reputation in patent, trademark, and copyright law. In 2003, she represented major chemical companies in cross-border patent litigations, including withholding the release of infringing products at the EU border. She also advised major consumer goods companies in trademark law and the product labeling aspects of launching new products in the Benelux. From 1992 until joining Jones Day she worked at the Benelux law firm, Stibbe, becoming a partner in that firm in 1998. She has authored several books on intellectual property and published a treatise on patents and know-how protection and a book on copyright and the Internet.

Mireille is a member of the Brussels Bar, the Belgian High Council for Industrial Property, the Examination Commission for Patent Attorneys, the Belgian Council for Mandatory Patent Licenses, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), the Benelux Association for Trademark and Design Law (BMM), and the French Association of Practitioners in Intellectual Property (APRAM). She is a professor at the University of Louvain and at the University of Brussels, where she teaches IP law and information law, and is a lecturer for the CEIPI (Centre d'Etudes Internationales de la Proprit Intellectuelle) Teaching Program for Patent Attorneys.

Mireille is fluent in French, English, Dutch, and German.
