Lawyer Overview
Derek Langton is chair of the Litigation department and is also a member of the Employment Law department. His primary emphasis is in the areas of employment law, business, commercial and real property litigation. He has been with Parsons Behle & Latimer for more than 25 years. During that time, he has litigated numerous cases involving non-compete agreements, non-solicitation agreements, confidentiality (or non-disclosure) agreements and/or the protection of trade secrets. He has also represented employers in a variety of employment discrimination, wrongful termination, and sexual harassment matters. In addition, Mr. Langton has extensive experience in real property litigation, including road access issues, easements, boundary disputes and condemnation or eminent domain. He is a skilled trial lawyer, and has tried numerous cases during his career involving, among other things, disputes in the areas of employment, non-compete agreements, trade secrets, real property and complex commercial and contract matters. He holds an AV rating through the Martindale-Hubbell rating service. He currently sits as a bar examiner for the Utah State Bar and is the past chairperson of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the Bar.
