Lawyer Overview

Mr. Lupe Garcia focuses his practice on intellectual property matters, in particular, patent prosecution and litigation. His litigation experience includes matters relating to electrical and mechanical technology as well as biosciences. He has patent prosecution experience in the areas of electrical and computer engineering, with an emphasis in communication systems, signal processing, electronics, semiconductor physics, cryptography, and computer architecture. His practice also includes counseling clients on portfolio strategy as well as noninfringement, invalidity, and freedom-to-operate issues. Prior to joining Jones Day, he was an associate at Pennie and Edmonds LLP and Dechert LLP.

Prior to law school, Lupe spent several years working as an engineer in technical fields that included communications, signal processing, and control systems. His graduate work also included studies in computer architecture and semiconductor processing. He is fluent in Spanish.
