Jason is an associate in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is based in our Minneapolis office and is a member of the Business Litigation Section. Jason practices principally in the following areas:

• Litigation and other dispute resolution in the energy industry
• Professional liability litigation
• Land use planning and zoning litigation
• Trade secret, trademark and copyright litigation
• Shareholder and partnership litigation
• Real estate litigation

As part of his land use and zoning practice, Jason handles land use planning cases as well as permit and regulatory compliance issues on behalf of zoning applicants. His professional liability practice includes the defense of legal malpractice cases. Jason’s shareholder and partnership dispute practice focuses on the litigation and resolution of governance and other issues among shareholders or partners. In relation to real estate matters, his litigating typically involves disputes between commercial landlords and tenants.

Jason is admitted to practice before Minnesota state courts, the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Minnesota and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 8th Circuit. He also provides pro bono representation to refugees seeking asylum in the United States. Jason is a member of the Hennepin County, Minnesota State and American Bar associations. He has been named a “Minnesota Rising Star” by Minnesota Law & Politics and served as adjunct professor for a course entitled “Writing, Representation and Persuasion” at his alma mater, William Mitchell College of Law.

Born in Morris, Minnesota, Jason received his B.A in history and political science from Concordia College. He received his law degree summa cum laude from William Mitchell College of Law, where he was an associate editor and contributing writer for the William Mitchell Law Review. Jason joined Briggs in 2002.
