Martin J. Cosenza is an associate at Foley & Lardner LLP. A member of the firm's Mechanical & Electromechanical Technologies, IP Litigation and Private Equity & Venture Capital Practices and also the Nanotechnology Industry Team, Mr. Cosenza focuses his practice on patent prosecution, client counseling, patent infringement litigation and risk arbitrage of IP cases.

Mr. Cosenza is a registered patent attorney who is licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the District of Columbia. He has successfully argued before the board of Patent Appeals and Interferences at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

Mr. Cosenza is also an adjunct professor (professorial lecturer of law) at the George Washington University Law School in Washington, D.C. Currently, he instructs students on intellectual property law and the development of law journal articles for George Washington's American Intellectual Property Law Association (AIPLA) Journal writing class.

Prior to joining Foley, Mr. Cosenza worked for the Boeing Aircraft Company for eight years as an engineer. There, he was responsible for conceiving, designing, producing and testing mechanical and electrical equipment used to support Naval and Marine Corps aircraft, as well as extensive customer liaison and project management activities. He also worked for Boeing as an electronic signals analyst, which entailed analyzing the various known electromagnetic emissions from aircraft in an effort to improve detection and identification of airborne objects.

Mr. Cosenza is a graduate of the Georgetown University Law Center. A licensed professional engineer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Mr. Cosenza holds an M.S. in mechanical engineering (Drexel University), an M.A. in education (Eastern College), and a B.S. in aerospace engineering (Syracuse University).
