Lawyer Overview
Mr. Waddell is a partner in the firm's Jackson office where his practice focuses on public finance, economic development and affordable housing. Mr. Waddell serves as counsel to the Mississippi Home Corporation, a public corporation that finances and encourages home ownership and affordable housing throughout Mississippi. Mr. Waddell also serves as counsel to the Mississippi Home Corporation in issuing its single family mortgage revenue bonds and in issuing multi-family bonds. Additionally, Mr. Waddell advises the Mississippi Home Corporation on its administration of Mississippi's allocated share of Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTCs) from the United States Department of the Treasury. Mr. Waddell has extensive experience working within the framework of Section 42 of the Internal Revenue Code as well as the Gulf Opprotunity Zone Act of 2005 to assist with the development of affordable housing throughout Mississippi.
Mr. Waddell also serves as counsel to the Mississippi Business Finance Corporation, a public corporation created to encourage economic development in Mississippi through the issuance of Industrial Development Revenue Bonds. Mr. Waddell also serves as counsel to the Mississippi Development Bank, a public entity created by the legislature authorized to borrow money and issue bonds and notes to make funds available to local governmental units at reduced rates and on favorable terms.
Mr. Waddell has been involved in financings for health care, water and sewer facilities, manufacturing and processing facilities, natural gas projects, energy projects, retail concerns and a number of Gulf Opportunity Zone Projects. In addition, Mr. Waddell has experience serving as underwriter's counsel and trustee counsel and has experience with derivative transactions.
