Lawyer Overview

Behrooz Shariati practices in the area of intellectual property counseling and litigation, relating primarily to software, computer hardware, and networking technologies. Before joining Jones Day, Behrooz was a partner with McDermott, Will & Emery's Silicon Valley office and an associate at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich and Rosati.

Prior to practicing law, Behrooz worked as a systems programmer, application programmer, technical consultant, project leader, and customer support manager for emerging high-technology companies for more than 15 years. His technical experience ranges from developing systems for integrated electronic design to designing, developing, and supporting applications under the Windows® family of operating systems.

Behrooz also served as vice president of research and development for Legal Information Systems at GSC, a leading software company in the real-time transcription and information management fields. While in law school he co-founded the Western State University Intellectual Property Law Association, where he served as vice president from 1991 to 1994.

He is a member of the State Bar of California (Litigation and Intellectual Property Sections), the American Bar Association (Law & Technology and Intellectual Property Sections), and the Silicon Valley Intellectual Property Law Association.

Behrooz holds an international Class B parachuting license, a U.S. private pilot's license, and a SCUBA certification.
