Chip Bensinger practices corporate law, with a focus on lending and structured finance, mergers and acquisitions, and general corporate matters. He has represented capital providers and users in a broad variety of secured and unsecured lending transactions, including cross-border credit facilities, acquisition financings, professional sports franchise financings, subordinated and mezzanine debt, construction financings, public debt issuances, and chapter 11 debtor-in-possession and exit financings. Chip also has led numerous M&A transactions, both U.S. and cross-border, including public mergers; private equity buyouts and exits; asset acquisitions and dispositions; distressed acquisitions, dispositions, and restructurings; and joint ventures.

Representative transactions include advising: the borrower in an extraordinarily complex $2.3 billion acquisition financing, a debtor emerging from over three years of chapter 11 proceedings with five different levels of secured and unsecured debt, and the lenders financing the acquisition of an NHL franchise. Chip also coordinated two cross-border acquisitions each involving more than 30 countries.

Representative clients range from public companies such as Abbott Laboratories, Diebold, HNI, Kaiser Aluminum, and The Stanley Works to private companies and private equity firms such as Duchossois Industries, J.F. Lehman & Company, and Ospraie Management and include lenders such as CIT, Jefferies, and Royal Bank of Scotland.

Chip is a member of the ABA (Business Law Section), the New York State Bar Association, and The Chicago Bar Association.
