Ms. Abowitz is an employment law specialist, with experience in both litigation and consulting. She regularly provides counsel to commercial, individual and educational clients on a variety of issues including: sex harassment; contract/non-competition concerns; anti-discrimination; hiring, termination and severance; employment handbooks and policies; wage and hour issues; reductions in force; record retention; general auditing of employment record keeping and practices.
In addition, Ms. Abowitz provides counsel to educational clients concerning governance issues, student privacy issues in general, and as they are impacted by the Patriot Act and various other federal and state statutes, matters impacting student discipline, tenure and other issues. Ms. Abowitz has appeared and argued for clients before state and federal agencies and courts in employment law matters including, among others, Title VII, the ADEA, the ADA and corresponding state statutes.
