The attorneys in our law office have represented clients in a variety of eminent domain cases statewide in California, provided legal advice in real estate disputes throughout the San Francisco Bay area, and conducted personal injury litigation on behalf of people who have been injured. Our law firm's focus is on eminent domain cases. We handle cases where the property owner wants to keep the property; where the government agency has damaged private property; where a redevelopment agency wants to take private property and give it to another private developer; or when a redevelopment agency uses the Polanco Act to decrease the value of the property being taken. Many cases involve the situation where the appraisal of the condemning agency differs greatly from the appraisals of our clients and their appraisers. The disparity between appraisals can be great, as seen below. When this happens, if the case does not settle informally, a jury trial is held on the issue of value, and the property owner is entitled to have a jury decide the value of the property taken. For more information see articles. The jury hears all the evidence, primarily consisting of the appraisers' opinions, and then the jury reaches a verdict as to the value of the property being taken.
