Jean-Michel Bobillo joined Jones Day in 2002 after an eight-month clerkship with the Firm. His practice focuses on both counseling and litigation aspects of French labor and employment law matters.

His counseling practice covers all labor and personnel-related issues, with a particular focus on employment law issues arising in the context of mergers and acquisitions, and on the implementation of restructurings and economic dismissals. He also advises regularly on the negotiation and drafting of employment contracts and settlement agreements and on the employment law aspects of service and outsourcing agreements. In addition, he has developed considerable experience in work-related diseases.

Jean-Michel's litigation experience includes the representation of employers in trials relating to dismissals based on economic grounds (such as economic difficulties and restructurings) and personal grounds (personal misconduct, professional insufficiency, and failure to meet targets).

Jean-Michel regularly assists and represents Aventis, Allegheny Technology, STERIS, and other U.S., French, and northern European multinational companies in employment-related issues.

Recently he assisted a French pharmaceutical group in connection with the risk of recognition of work-related diseases and has counseled several French and American groups in the sale or purchase of shares or assets in France in relation to real estate, software, or industrial businesses. As a result of these matters, he has participated in several labor law due diligence exercises and has assisted with personnel-related issues raised by these transactions.
