Hughie Duvall Hunt, II is the founding partner of Kemet & Hunt. Heading the firm's civil litigation group, he has successful experience before judge and jury in all areas of his practice. In addition to civil litigation, his diverse caseload includes practice in the areas of probate, contract, real estate, divorce and family law.

Mr. Hunt, a former GTE Academic All-American football standout at Georgia Southern University proved to be a formidable force both on and off the field. Selected by then Georgia Governor Zell Miller, Hunt was the first African-American from his undergraduate institution to serve as the Governor's Honors Intern for the District Attorney's Office of Bulloch County. As President of the Black Student Alliance, Mr. Hunt, along with the student body president, organized a successful protest of a local movie theatre to bring more diverse programming. He was a member of the student/faculty judicial board, Golden Key National Honor Society, Eagle 3.0 Club, and won the top squat award of Georgia Southern University Football Team, squatting over 600 pounds.

His love for knowledge and the law took him to The George Washington University Law School in the fall of 1996. While at GW, Mr. Hunt served as President of the Black Law Students Association, as a member of the Student Recruitment Committee, and on the Alternative Dispute Resolution Board. He was also involved in the clinical programs offered through GW serving as a research assistant and a clinic fellow at the Jacob Burns Community Legal Clinic in Washington, D.C.
 
In 2006-2007, Mr. Hunt was selected as Chair of the Young Lawyers Section of the Maryland State Bar Association, becoming the first African American in the history of the Maryland State Bar Association to hold this position. He has served on the Executive Committee and Board of Governor's for the MSBA. During 2007-2008, Mr. Hunt served as the American Bar Association’s Young Lawyers Division District Representative for the District of Columbia and Delaware.

Mr. Hunt remains an active leader in the legal community. He currently serves as the Treasurer of the Maryland Institute for the Continuing Professional Education of Lawyers and sits on the Board of Advisors for the Bar Association of the District of Columbia's Young Lawyers Section. As a member of the Joseph, Greenwald & Laake's Family Law Clinic, he continues to provide pro bono legal services to low income family law clients.

Mr. Hunt is fluent in Spanish, and has studied abroad in Costa Rica and in Guatemala. An avid traveler, Hunt has also visited South Africa, Germany, Honduras, Canada, and over 35 of the States in the Union. He also holds a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
