Eric Sedlak is an experienced cross-border financial and corporate transactions lawyer. He has practiced as a foreign lawyer in Japan for more than 14 years. He also established and managed his prior firm's offices in Ho Chi Minh City and Singapore.

Eric's practice focuses on foreign investment and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and private equity as well as infrastructure and structured finance. His experience also includes cross-border lending, real estate finance, and restructuring. Eric has assisted clients with a range of corporate and contentious matters, including the management of overseas litigation, arbitration, environmental, and insolvency matters.

Eric has advised on licensing, franchising, and distribution arrangements on behalf of manufacturers, licensors, and licensees in the automotive, computer hardware and software, construction, and food service industries.

His work with joint ventures has included a refinery, a cement plant, property and casualty insurance, automotive, building materials, property development, and electronics. He also counsels on market entry approaches, regulatory matters, and strategic arrangements relating to financial institutions, insurance, and technology companies in every major East and Southeast Asian country.

Eric has spoken in Asia, Europe, and North America on the drafting and dispute resolution of international contracts, protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights, bank assurance marketing joint ventures, Nasdaq listings, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, debt restructuring, angel funding, and foreign direct investment issues.

He has published articles in Asialaw, Butterworth's Journal of International and Financial Law, Corporate Counsel Monthly, IPBA Journal, International Financial Law Review, International Banking and Financial Law Bulletin, New York University Journal of International Law & Politics, Standard Chartered Indochina Monitor, and Vietnam Economic Times. He wrote the chapter "Capital Contributions and Financing" in Capital Flows along the Mekong and co-authored the "Vietnam" chapter of Matthew Bender's Joint Ventures.

Eric currently co-chairs the Legal Services Committee of the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan and has served on the Privatization, Competition Policy, and Foreign Direct Investment Task Forces. He previously served as chair of the Ho Chi Minh City Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce and chaired the chapter's Legal Affairs Committee for three years. He also served on the board of governors of the Singapore Chapter of the American Chamber of Commerce and chaired the chapter's Regional Affairs Committee.

Since 1998, Eric has been recognized on many occasions by Asialaw, the Asia Pacific Legal 500, and Expert Guides as a leading lawyer in project finance, mergers & acquisitions, private equity, corporate finance, and banking and finance.
