Eric Sedlak is an experienced cross-border financial and corporate transactions lawyer who has practiced in Asia for more than 20 years, based in Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam. His practice focuses on foreign investment and financial transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, and private equity as well as infrastructure and structured finance.
Eric has advised on bank regulatory matters, bank mergers and acquisitions, secured lending, securitization, and workouts and has worked on projects in every major East and Southeast Asian country. His experience also includes cross-border lending, real estate finance, and restructuring. He has assisted clients with a range of corporate and contentious matters, including the management of overseas litigation, arbitration, environmental, and insolvency matters.
Eric has advised developers on U.S. thermal and wind power projects, has advised a contractor on the construction of a transmission line In Vietnam, has advised an FPSO operator on an engineering dispute offshore Indonesia and a subsequent restructuring, and has advised lenders and investors on property projects in the United States and East and Southeast Asia.
Eric is active in the American Chamber of Commerce in Japan, served for six years as co-chair of its Legal Services Committee, and received its 2005 and 2006 Leader of the Year awards. He also has served on the Foreign Direct Investment, Privatization, and Competition Policy Task Forces; as a member of the board of governors of AmCham in Singapore; and as chair of AmCham in Ho Chi Minh City.
