Lawyer Overview

Manuel began his professional career in 1989 as a stock market analyst, specializing in insurance and the food industry. In 1991, he joined the Madrid law firm of Luis Lamana Abogados and subsequently moved to the Madrid office of Audihispana S.A. in 1995, where he was director of their legal department. He joined Jones Day in 2001.

Currently, Manuel's areas of practice include corporate law and tax law; and he has advised clients that operate in diverse industries in Europe and in North America. He has specially broad experience in dealing with industrial companies and venture capital companies regarding national and international mergers and acquisitions.

Representative clients in recent public matters include industrial companies as Dole Food, Flextronics, Noveon, Total, STERIS, Colt Telecom, Atlas Copco, Hudson Highland Group, Sumitomo Bakelite, Viessmann, and Trader Classified Media and venture capital companies such as Granville Baird Capital Partners, Fides Capital, and Ahorro Corporación.

A member of the Madrid Bar Association, he is listed in Chambers Global — The World's Leading Lawyers 2008 as a leading lawyer in corporate/M&A in Spain. Manuel is a professor of the master of international law program at the San Pablo CEU University of Madrid.

He is fluent in Spanish and English and has a working knowledge of French.
