Chris Garrett practices in the area of business litigation, representing clients in trials and appeals in both state and federal court. He has substantial experience in antitrust, intellectual property and employment law. In addition, Chris has extensive political law experience, frequently advising elected officials, candidates and organizations on issues of constitutional and election law. He was retained to represent Oregon legislative leaders in constitutional litigation related to education funding.

In 2008, Chris was elected to the Oregon House of Representatives from District 38, encompassing parts of Portland and Lake Oswego. During three terms, he has served in leadership positions, including Chair of the House Committee on Rules, Co-Chair of the Joint Committee on Public Safety, Co-Chair of the House Committee on Business and Labor and Co-Chair of the House Committee on Redistricting. Chris also has served on the House Judiciary Committee in each of his three terms. In January 2013, Chris was elected Speaker Pro Tempore by his House colleagues. In addition to his legislative service, Chris has served on several advisory bodies and commissions, including the Oregon Law Commission and Governor John Kitzhaber's Commission on Public Safety, which undertook a systematic review of Oregon's criminal sentencing policies during 2011 and 2012 and proposed reforms to the Legislature.
