Lawyer Overview

Sameer V. Mohan is a partner in the Houston office of Baker Hostetler and has been with the firm for his entire legal career. Mr. Mohan has maintained a diverse business practice focused on mergers and acquisitions, complex joint ventures, international transactions and commercial real estate transactions. He has extensive experience as lead counsel for a variety of large public and private companies, particularly in the energy and healthcare industries.

Mr. Mohan has represented large energy companies on a variety of deals, including joint ventures, asset acquisitions and divestitures, and stock purchase and sales transactions. He has been the lead counsel for several large oil drilling companies with respect to domestic and international transactions including development agreements, joint ventures, services agreements and equipment sales agreements.

Mr. Mohan has been lead counsel for a large alternative fuels company focused on ethanol and LPG for the domestic and international market and lead counsel for another large company focused on the compressed natural gas market for international transactions. Mr. Mohan has represented clients in transactions around the globe including Brazil, Mexico, Peru, Turkey, India and Egypt.

In the commercial real estate sector, Mr. Mohan has vast experience representing clients in leasing transactions and purchase and sale of commercial properties, ranging from office buildings, condominium properties and shopping center developments. Mr. Mohan been lead counsel for a large healthcare company with respect to their entire commercial real estate portfolio, comprising approximately 1,500 properties in 40 states across the United States. He has also represented large international freight forwarding and global logistics company for its commercial real estate portfolio. Recently, Mr. Mohan represented a large office condominium developer in acquiring and selling commercial retail development properties.

From 2004 to 2006, Mr. Mohan was named annually in Texas Monthly magazine as a “Texas Rising Star.” In 2004 and 2006, H Texas Magazine listed Mr. Mohan as a Houston lawyer “On the Fast Track.” In 2005, Mr. Mohan was appointed by U.S. Commerce Secretary Carlos M. Gutierrez to the West Texas District Export Council, an organization of business leaders promoting trade and economic growth, in which Mr. Mohan serves as a Board Member. Furthermore, Mr. Mohan is an active member of the Houston Young Lawyers Association and the Brazil-Texas Chamber of Commerce.
