Lawyer Overview
Eleanor Lam has extensive experience in commercial litigation and arbitration matters, focusing primarily on company law, directors' duties, shareholder/joint venture disputes, corporate insolvency, and corporate regulation and investigation. Many of these matters involve complex, cross-border disputes. She has advised/acted for an international range of clients from financial institutions and multinational corporations to private and listed companies to high-profile individuals in different industry sectors across the globe, including Hong Kong, mainland China, Australia, Spain, the Cayman Islands, and Samoa.
Eleanor is currently acting for the bankruptcy estate of Lehman Brothers Holdings on issues related to Lehman Brothers investments in Hong Kong. She also is advising fund manager Elliott Advisors on the enforcement of its rights as an investor, representing CLSA in a contractual dispute, representing a private equity fund in proceedings to enforce its rights with respect to a convertible bond, and advising on a shareholder dispute involving one of China's largest transportation-related infrastructure asset management entities. Her recent work includes representing an iron ore producer, Mount Gibson Mining, in a trade dispute; representing i-Cable Webserve in an appeal to the Court of Appeal; and advising Mandra Forestry's noteholders on the enforcement of their rights against the defaulting issuer. Eleanor previously has provided litigation advice to Aegis and Alvarez & Marsal. She also was involved in one of the largest shareholder disputes before the courts in Hong Kong.
She is a member of the Hong Kong Law Society and is a non-practising member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the Law Institute of Victoria, Australia.
