Lawyer Overview

Andy is an associate in the firm of Briggs and Morgan, Professional Association. He is a member of the Business Litigation Section. Andy practices principally in the areas of:

• Telecommunications
• Property taxation litigation
• Business litigation

Andy was admitted to practice in Minnesota in 1998 and is also admitted to practice in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota and the 8th Circuit Court of Appeals.

Andy is treasurer of the Minnesota State Bar Association’s (MSBA) Communications Law Section, and is also a member of the MSBA’s Public Utilities Law Section and Arts and Entertainment Law Section. He is also a member of the Federal Bar Association and the American Bar Association’s Sections on Communications Law, Public Utilities Law and Entertainment Law.

In the community, Andy provides pro bono services through the Children’s Law Center, representing a child in the Ramsey County juvenile protection system. He recently argued and won a decision from the Minnesota Court of Appeals (In the Matter of the Welfare of the Child of T.T.B., Parent) reversing a district court order that threatened to close the child’s case even though the child was still in need of services.

Prior to joining Briggs, Andy was a law clerk for Judge Stephen C. Aldrich in Hennepin County District Court. Before that, he was a founder of and partner in Peppermint, a company providing Internet marketing and distribution for independent musicians. 

Andy received his B.A. from Carleton College in 1990, where he was a double major in English and music, and his J.D. from the University of Minnesota, where he graduated cum laude and was executive editor of the Minnesota Journal of Global Trade. He joined Briggs in 2004.
