For the past several years Kathryn has spent the majority of her time participating in the defense of a safety products company in silicosis litigation. The litigation includes more than 900 cases of alleged occupational lung disease involving over 25,000 individual claimants in federal courts as well as more than 20 state courts. Prior to joining Jones Day, Kathryn practiced in the health law section of Strasburger & Price, L.L.P. in Dallas, Texas, where she specialized in pharmaceutical product liability litigation, as well as in the defense of hospitals and nurses in medical malpractice and nursing home actions.

Kathryn coauthored (with Bryan Maedgen) a paper entitled "The Learned Intermediary Doctrine at the Turn of the Millennium" for the State Bar of Texas Annual Advanced Medical Malpractice Course, March 16-17, 2000. She also coauthored with S. Vance Wittie, "Medical Monitoring: A Theory for Recovery for Persons Exposed to Toxic Substances," International Legal Strategy, Vol. VII-4 (1998). Kathryn is a member of the State Bar of Texas, the Dallas Bar Association, and the Dallas Association of Young Lawyers. Kathryn is also involved in the investigation and prosecution of claims of unauthorized practice of law on behalf of the Supreme Court of Texas.
