Our intellectual property (IP) group provides a full range of services, including prosecution, counseling, licensing, regulatory, due diligence, and litigation services in the patent, copyright, trade secret, and trademark fields. In addition to our prolific IP litigation practice, we have an extremely active patent prosecution practice and file more than 700 patent applications per year for both domestic and foreign clients. Our highly skilled team of California IP lawyers includes nearly 40 members, including nearly 20 members of the U.S. patent bar, seven professionals with Ph.D.s, 10 professionals with Masters degrees, and nearly 20 professionals with industry experience.

Our California life sciences practice offers pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, and other life sciences clients a unique and wide-ranging combination of legal services and experience that most other California life sciences groups cannot duplicate. Recognized by Chambers USA as a leading life sciences firm, our group includes lawyers who focus on IP prosecution, counseling, due diligence, licensing, and litigation, as well as lawyers who represent clients before the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and other agencies, and who provide advice and guidance about the complex web of federal and state laws and regulations that govern life sciences companies. Our California life sciences team includes a former Director of the Office of Compliance for the Bureau of Biologics and former FDA Deputy Chief Counsel for Administration, a former Associate Chief Counsel for Drugs and former Associate Chief Counsel for Enforcement at FDAs Office of the Chief Counsel, and the former Executive Director of Global Research and Development Compliance for one of the countrys leading human therapeutics companies in the biotechnology industry.
