Lawyer Overview

Mr. Smith's practice focuses on Commercial and Real Estate Litigation, as well as Municipal and Land Use law. Mr. Smith represents individuals, business entities in commercial disputes, land owners, and municipalities and title insurers.  He also serves as the Solicitor for the City of Reading Charter Review Board.

Mr. Smith is committed to county and state bar association service. He is an active member of the Montgomery Bar Association, serving in 2001 as the Young Lawyers Section Chairperson and as vice-chair of various committees since that time. He served as an editor of the Montgomery County Law Reporter from 1999 to 2000 and on the advisory committee of that publication from 2003 to 2005. Commencing January 2006, Mr. Smith began a three year term as a Director of the Montgomery Bar Association. In 2007 Mr. Smith served on the Executive Committee of the Montgomery Bar Association. He is also active in the Pennsylvania Bar Association, serving as the Zone 9 Co-Chair of the PBA's Young Lawyer Division for the past several years. In May of 2004 Mr. Smith began serving as a Zone 9 delegate to the Pennsylvania Bar Association's House of Delegates.

Community service is also important to Mr. Smith. In 2004, Mr. Smith was appointed to the Board of Directors of the General Alumni Association of the Dickinson School of Law of the Pennsylvania State University. From 2001 to 2003, Mr. Smith also served as the Chair of the West Conshohocken Zoning Hearing Board.   Currently Mr. Smith serves as a Judge of Elections in his municipality.

Prior to joining High Swartz LLP, Mr. Smith served as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Samuel W. Salus, II, of the Montgomery County Court of Common Pleas. Additionally, while attending law school Mr. Smith served as a Comments Editor for the Dickinson Law Review and as the Law Clerk to the Honorable Kevin A. Hess of the Cumberland County Court of Common Pleas.

At High Swartz LLP,  Mr. Smith serves as a member of the firm's three attorney management committee.  He also has been named a 2005, 2006 and 2007 "Rising Star" by Law & Politics magazine.
