Lawyer Overview

Sheila Shadmand's practice focuses on the representation of international and domestic clients who are involved in a wide variety of disputes. To that end, her practice has included a diverse range of complex litigation matters, including private securities litigation and related government investigations, private antitrust litigation and related government investigations, commercial fraud, intellectual property, contract disputes, and bankruptcy litigation. Some of Sheila's representative clients in these and other types of matters include: Nextel, General Motors Corporation, Washington Group International, BFGoodrich, Procter & Gamble, Breed Technologies, Bon Secours Health System, SABMiller, and XM Satellite Radio, as well as numerous nonprofit organizations and individuals that she has represented on a pro bono basis.

Given the increasingly international reach of many of her clients, Sheila also maintains an active counseling practice with respect to FCPA, embargo, anti-money laundering, and other issues unique to international business. She has successfully led internal investigations on behalf of her clients before various regulatory agencies in the United States.

Over the past year, Sheila has served as lead trial counsel for the National Security Archive in its widely publicized lawsuit to preserve millions of missing e-mails at the White House: National Security Archive v. Executive Office of the President, et al. (Civil Action No. 07-1577 and 07-1707). Recently surviving a motion to dismiss, the lawsuit challenges under the Federal Records Act the defendants' failure to recover, restore, and preserve electronic communications sent or received within the White House, as well as the defendants' failure to establish an electronic records management system.

Sheila has appeared in The American Lawyer, the ABA Journal, The Washington Post, and other national media and trade publications in connection with her matters.
