Lawyer Overview

Robert began his legal career representing large energy companies and protecting their interests before the California Public Utilities Commission, the Federal Energy Commission, and in state and federal courts. And by coming into these cases when the legal and political fallout of the California Energy Crisis was at its highest, these matters required him to develop meticulous analytical and litigation skills.

Although Robert continues to represent energy companies, his repertoire has expanded to other aspects of complex business litigation, ranging from contract interpretation to landlord-tenant issues. Most recently, Robert has concentrated on appellate law, primarily due to his prior experience clerking at the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. He has experience in the federal and California appellate courts.

Prior to becoming an attorney, Robert taught English in two junior high schools in Kurihashi Town, Japan. During that time, he directly trained the number one champion of the All-Saitama (state level) Junior High School English Oratorical Competition for 1996 — a first in the history of Kurihashi Town.

In addition, Robert participates in the Ninth Circuit's appellate pro bono program.
