Coming to the rescue of others must be in the genes of this attorney.  The son of a New York City police officer, Mr. Palermo got into injury law to help the underdog achieve justice.  He relishes the prospect of taking on billion dollar companies when their negligence causes harm.  Most notably, Mr. Palermo represented the family of a woman who died when her airbag deployed in a minor collision with a pole.  The auto manufacturer tried to argue that the 48-year-old mother's death was due to her having a "brittle" neck, but settled the case for $1.5 million after Mr. Palermo proved the airbag was unreasonably dangerous.  The victim's car had been equipped with a data-recorder similar to a "black box" on an airplane.  This equipment showed the airbag deployed too late, creating a powerful, upward thrust that broke the woman's neck.  The case was featured on the news because it was the first time an attorney had used a vehicle's black box to win a personal injury claim.  In another well-publicized case, Mr. Palermo won $2.3 million  for a group of DuPage County homeowners living adjacent to a factory that recklessly handled trichloroethylene, a toxic chemical.  As the result of this mishandling, the homeowner's property values had been affected.  Mr. Palermo has worked exclusively in personal injury law since 1996, winning the vast majority of his cases.  When he is not working, he spends time with his children, watches college football and enjoys snowboarding and playing guitar.
