Lawyer Overview

Carmen Elaine Eiker has the distinction of being certified by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization not only in Family Law, but also in Civil Trial Law. Only 3 percent of the state's licensed attorneys are Board Certified in two areas of law. Her unique blend of skills allows Carmen to provide clients with an experienced and persuasive voice in the courtroom whether she is arguing a motion to the judge or trying a case to a jury.

While Carmen recognizes that the courtroom is rarely the first choice for clients, she knows it may be necessary if mediation or other settlement discussions do not produce the desired results.  Her intimate knowledge of each client's case, as well as the intricacies of the trial process, enable her to evaluate and advise clients on the relative risk and benefits of settlement negotiations versus going to court.

Prior to joining the firm, Carmen had a successful solo practice devoted to Family Law where she gained valuable experience in cases involving both property and custody issues. Her hands-on work includes addressing litigation issues as part of the firm's overall team approach to client representation. Her courtroom experience has enabled her to zero in on the major issues of any case to develop effective and persuasive trial strategies.
