Craig A. Van Matre grew up in Mexico, Missouri, received his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) and law degree (J.D.) from the University of Missouri-Columbia. He was admitted to practice in the Courts of the State of Missouri and the Federal District Courts on September 13, 1970. Thereafter Mr. Van Matre obtained a Masters of Law in Taxation from New York University in 1974. Following the 4 year tour of duty in the U.S. Air Force, Mr. Van Matre commenced the private practice of law in Columbia, Missouri in early 1975, and has been continuously in the practice of law since then, growing the Van Matre, Harrison, and Volkert Law Firm from just Mr. Van Matre to its present compliment of 8 attorneys.

Mr. Van Matre has substantial experience in municipal government law, having represented large developers over the years in developing and financing large commercial real estate developments which have involved various aspects of municipal finance. He is a past president of the Boone County Bar Association and is an "AV" rated attorney by Martindale Hubbell. He has resided in Columbia, Missouri, since November 1974.
