Samuel R. Pennington is a graduate of the University of Central Florida, class of 1976.  He completed his undergraduate studies after being honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1970.  Sam attended the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University, in Birmingham, Alabama.  While at Cumberland, he participated in Moot Court, and represented Cumberland on the ABA (American Bar Association) Moot Court team.  Sam was received into the Order of Barristers, a National Honorary Society for having “Exhibited Excellence and Attained High Honor through the Art of Courtroom Advocacy”.  Sam graduated from Cumberland in 1979.  He previously taught bankruptcy law as an adjunct instructor, and has concentrated his practice in the area of bankruptcy law in the state of Florida since 1988. 

Sam is married to Vera, who teaches debtor education for Laurie K. Weatherford, the Chapter 13 Standing Trustee in Orlando.  Sam and Vera have two children, Cheryl, who is an accountant in Alabama, and Jeremy, who died of cystic fibrosis in 2010.  Sam has been involved in mission work for many years, and has made numerous mission trips to Nigeria, as well as Mexico and Nicaragua.

Sam was the staff attorney for Laurie K. Weatherford from January, 2002, until September 30, 2011, when he retired from that position.  While working for the Trustee, Sam developed the staff attorney track for the annual conference of the National Association of Chapter 13 Trustees (NACTT).  He appeared regularly as a speaker at the national conference, and has been a speaker at several bankruptcy seminars put on by the Central Florida Bankruptcy Lawyers Association (CFBLA), and at seminars conducted by the Orange County Bar Association bankruptcy sub-committee.

Sam joined with us In April, 2012, and brings his considerable skills to our firm in all areas of bankruptcy law.  He has filed bankruptcies under chapters 7, 11,12, and 13, and operates our satellite office in Tavares, Lake County, Florida.  Our Tavares office is located at 303 N.
