I have been using Scott Kauffman to represent me in a large delinquent tax matter for 2 years and he has been far above my expectations. I don't often write reviews, but this one is well deserved. On a scale of 1 to 5 he is a solid 10! I would recommend his services to anyone who may need them. He doesn't waste your time, is very focused and fair in billing. I am glad that I was introduced to him.

During a financial hardship severals years ago Todd was refer by a relative. Trying to deal with the IRS alone was not easy. Without him I couldn't have received a reasonable payment plan.

It's been our pleasure to send scores of clients to Scott since we first met 15+ years ago. His work is top notch and the people we've referred are 100% satisfied. The typical feedback we've gotten is that he's particularly generous with his time, and the client received excellent value for the fees they paid. Also, that Scott truly cares about clients and the effect tax problems have on their lives.

Attorney Scott Kauffman made me feel at ease as soon as I contacted him to assist me with my tax issue.. He answered all of my questions and was available to me by email or phone. Attorney Kauffman was always extremely professional and kept me updated on his progress. I immediately knew I was in good hands. He assured me of his experience in the matter I was involved in with having a 100% success rate. Luckily he kept that rate going as he resolved my tax issue. He was clear in the length of time it would take and kept my mind at peace throughout the ordeal. I would highly recommend Attorney Kauffman and would use him again to assist in legal actions.

Scott Kauffman represented my wife and me in a tax matter which had been assigned to an aggressive revenue officer. The matter had been pending for some time, and it had caused us many anxious hours. When we retained Scott, he put our concerns to rest. He settled the matter through a due process hearing for substantially less than the revenue agent and the taxpayer advocate had proposed. Scott's charges are more than fair, and I would recommend his services to anyone who has a tax problem.

When I first met with Scott we met for about 1 hour and I stated my case to him regarding the IRS. The IRS said I owed over $40.000 in back taxes, penalties and interest. He was up from, honest and very informative regarding how the IRS works and what to expect. He explained each step of the process and seemed to do things in a timely manner saving me money. The cost of hiring him saved me over $25,000 and was well worth the cost of his services, During the entire process both Scott and I were able to contact each other whenever needed and he responded quickly. During the entire process of about 7 months we only met each other twice. This also saved me time and the expense of an attorney. I would highly recommend Scott, he did an excellent job and saved me peace of mind throughout the entire process.

I could not be happier with Mr. Scott Kauffman's services. He quickly understood what needed to be done to resolve my issues with the IRS and was committed to making that happen. I truly believe that he is devoted to the best interests of his clients. I appreciate that he was responsive and kept me informed every step of the way. I feel very fortunate to have worked with Scott. I would like to thank him for making what could have been a stressful and anxiety-ridden situation with the IRS into a smooth resolution. I am on my way to a debt free and financially successful life. Karen J. How do I choose a lawyer?

Consider the following:

Comfort Level
- Are you comfortable telling the lawyer personal information? Does the lawyer seem interested in solving your problem?

Credentials
- How long has the lawyer been in practice? Has the lawyer worked on other cases similar to yours?

Cost
- How are the lawyer's fees structured - hourly or flat fee? Can the lawyer estimate the cost of your case?

City
- Is the lawyer's office conveniently located?

Not sure what questions to ask a lawyer?

Here are a few to get you started:

  • How long have you been in practice?
  • How many cases like mine have you handled?
  • How often do you settle cases out of court?
  • What are your fees and costs?
  • What are the next steps?

Want to check lawyer discipline?

It is always a good idea to research your lawyer prior to hiring. Every state has a disciplinary organization that monitors attorneys, their licenses, and consumer complaints. By researching lawyer discipline you can:

  • Ensure the attorney is currently licensed to practice in your state
  • Gain an understanding of his or her historical disciplinary record, if any.
  • Determine the seriousness of complaints/issues which could range from late bar fees to more serious issues requiring disciplinary action.
