Mr. Nicholson grew up in Augusta and received his undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 1974. He graduated from the Cumberland School of Law at Samford University in 1978, where he was Vice President of the Student Bar Association and received the Dean's Certificate of Appreciation.

Throughout his career, Sam has handled a variety of legal matters for his clients. However, within the last few years, he has focused on representing individuals who have been seriously injured as a result of the negligence or wrongdoing of another and handling consumer class actions against corporations whose business practices have been harmful to consumers.

Sam Nicholson is currently president of the Augusta Bar Association. He remains a memeber of the State Bar of Georgia, the American Bar Association, the Georgia Trial Lawyers Association and the American Association for Justice.

Sam carries on a tradition of legal representation in that his father began practicing law in Augusta in 1932 and remained in practice in the Augusta area for over 40 years. Sam served as Chairman of the State Ethics Commission. Sam has served as a State Representative in the Georgia General Assembly, the Chairman of the Board of the Augusta Preparatory Day School, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Georgia Golf Hall of Fame, and President of the Parish Counsel of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Augusta. He has served as Chairman of the Wachovia Bank Advisory Board.

Sam resides in Augusta with his wife, Mrs. Susan Eubanks Nicholson. They have three children; Katie, Sam, and Jane.
