Lawyer Overview

A Partner at Denner Pellegrino, LLP, Daniel P. Neelon has been practicing law, either in private practice or as a public company general counsel, since 1984 and has been recognized by his peers for success in both business law practice and civil litigation.

In the field of business law, Dan has extensive experience in structuring, negotiating, and documenting numerous multi-million dollar acquisitions, mergers and disposition, both securities-based and asset-based. His business transactional experience includes first-chair representation of sellers, purchasers, and/or investment bank/broker-dealer interests with respect to private securities and investment transactions; securities compliance opinions; and corporate advice and document preparation for clients concerning stock option plans, bonus plans, non-competition agreements, employee policy manuals, and corporate governance. Dan also has significant experience in oil and gas exploration matters and complex business contract negotiations and documentation.

Before joining Denner Pellegrino, Dan was one of only two solo practitioner attorneys in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts named as a "Top Attorney in Corporate and Securities Law", Business/Corporate Law, in the January/February 2009 national Super Lawyers Corporate Counsel Edition. He has also been named a Massachusetts SuperLawyer in Business Law or New England SuperLawyer in Business Law for six successive years, 2004-2009.

In addition to his business transactional practice, Dan has extensive experience litigating and resolving business and professional disputes, including securities fraud, accounting fraud, bank fraud, and business contract matters, as well as professional malpractice and real estate matters. Dan has devoted a substantial part of his litigation practice over the past ten years to assisting individuals and small businesses to recover damages caused by fraud or deceit.

Dan is licensed to practice law in the state courts of Massachusetts and Texas and is admitted to practice in the U.S. District Courts for the District of Massachusetts and the Western District of Texas, as well as the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. He is a member of the Million Dollar Advocates Forum, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Barnstable County Bar Association (on which he serves on the Executive Committee), and the Association for Conflict Resolution, and he is a Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation. He received his Juris Doctor degree from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1983 and his B.A. degree in Foreign Affairs, with High Distinction, from the University of Virginia in 1980. Dan also speaks Italian.
