He is frequently appointed by judges in Lake County to represent children in contested and difficult child custody cases. He is asked by judges to help write local court rules dealing with various administrative matters relating to the family law practice in Lake County, Illinois.

Prior to being in practice, Mr. Schlesinger was in two law firms in Libertyville, Illinois. Prior to that he was the executive director of the Federally funded program providing legal services to the indigent in civil cases in Lake County, Illinois.

Mr. Schlesinger graduated from Northwestern University School of Law in 1970. He was instrumental in helping establish a legal aid clinic at Northwestern University School of Law while a student there. He graduated from Loyola University of Chicago with a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology in 1967.

Mr. Schlesinger has been an active member of the community in Lake County for many years. He is a member and former officer of the Libertyville Rotary Club, a former candidate for the school board in Libertyville, a member of Main Street Libertyville, and an ardent and opinionated writer of letters to the editor on various subjects.

Mr. Schlesinger has two grown daughters of whom he is very proud and avidly pursues various hobbies including bicycling, skiing, photography, and blue grass music.
